Acknowledgments

First and foremost, the sixth grade would like to thank Irene Dunham from the Fryeburg Historical Society for making this project possible.  Her knowledge of Jockey Cap, time spent locating and photocopying materials to use, and overall enthusiasm were crucial to our success.

We also wish to thank those who gave their time to answer our many interview questions.  Kelly Dunham shared his wonderful perspective growing up across the street from Jockey Cap, and Scott Andrews of the Ski Museum of Maine gave two wonderful presentations to our classes and brought in authentic old-fashioned skis for us to handle.

From Molly Ockett Middle School, thanks also go out to Ryan Swank for coordinating the project and to Bob Kerr for his help with planning and setting aside class time to work on the journal entries.  Parent volunteers Jane Dineen and Erin Wentworth gave their time to support students in pulling facts from the primary documents, and the Molly Ockett Parent Teacher Organization generously provided ice cream for the celebration event.

Furthermore, thanks to Cathy Newell for sharing her expertise on Molly Ockett through an e-mail interview and for ,directing us toward great resources.  We also appreciate Bob Quinn, owner of the Jockey Cap Country Store, taking the time to answer our interview questions by e-mail as well.  We thank Pat Stewart for allowing us to use some of her photographs and for her book Mollyockett that provided a model of the fiction-nonfiction hybrid we chose for this project, and also the Bethel Historical Society for their permission to use some of their web images.  The Maine Historical Society also generously allowed us to use digital photographs from their collection.
